Team Members and Roles

Invite teammates into your Company so everyone can work from the same board, projects, and shared credits. Each member has a role that controls what they can do.

Inviting a member

You manage your team from the Team tab in Company Settings.

  1. Open Company Settings → Team
  2. Enter the person's email address
  3. Choose their role (Viewer, Editor, or — if you're the Owner — Admin)
  4. Click Invite

The person receives an email inviting them to join your Company. Invitations are valid for 3 days. Until they accept, they appear in your team list as Pending, and you can cancel the invite or change the role they'll receive.

note

Members get access to all folders and projects inside the Company, and their AI usage draws from the Company's shared credit pool.

Roles

Buildify Companies have four roles, plus a temporary "pending" state before an invite is accepted.

Owner

The person who created the Company. There is one Owner per Company. The Owner has full control, including the ability to invite any role (including Admins), manage every member, change company settings, and delete the Company.

The Owner cannot leave the Company.

Admin

Admins can:

  • Edit company settings and knowledge
  • Invite, edit, and remove members (except other Admins)
  • Create projects and manage all tasks

Admins cannot invite or modify other Admins, and cannot delete the Company.

Editor

Editors can:

  • Create projects and work with the Buildify Agent
  • Create, edit, run, and pause tasks (they can delete only tasks they created)
  • View the company and its members

Editors cannot invite members or change company settings.

Viewer

Viewers have read-only access. They can view the company, its members, and the Tasks board, but can't make changes. Assign this role to stakeholders who need visibility without edit access.

Inside a project, read-only means a Viewer can open it and read the full conversation history, but can't send messages or edit the result. In an AI Chat project this is especially noticeable — the chat input is disabled, so a Viewer can read the conversation but can't talk to the chatbot.

Pending

Someone who has been invited but hasn't accepted yet. They can't access company data until they accept the invitation, at which point they receive the role you assigned.

Managing members

From the Team tab you can:

  • See all current members and their roles
  • Change a member's role using the dropdown next to their name
  • Remove a member from the Company
  • Cancel a pending invite

Role rules to keep in mind:

  • Only the Owner can invite or manage Admins.
  • A Company can only have one Owner — you can't invite or assign a second Owner.
  • The Owner's role can't be changed, and the Owner can't be removed.

Accepting an invitation

If someone invites you to their Company:

  • From the email — Click the link in your invitation email. If you don't have a Buildify account yet, you'll be prompted to create one.
  • From Buildify — Pending invitations appear for you inside the app so you can accept them directly.

Once you accept, the Company appears in your account switcher, and you can switch into it at any time.

Leaving a Company

Any member other than the Owner can leave a Company. Open the Team tab and choose Leave. You'll lose access to the Company's folders and projects. The Owner cannot leave.

Switching between accounts

You can belong to many Companies while also having your Personal account. Switch between them from the account menu (your avatar): hover the account header to open the switcher, then pick your Personal account or any Company. The one you're currently in is marked with a dot.
