Connecting Slack
Connecting Slack lets Buildify read your channels, search past conversations, and post messages — so you can ask for things like a summary of this week's discussion, or have an update posted to your team without leaving Buildify.
Connecting your workspace
- Click your avatar → Settings → Connectors
- Stay on the Apps tab
- Find Slack and click Connect
- A popup opens asking you to sign in to Slack and choose a workspace
- Review what Buildify is asking for, then click Allow
When the popup closes, Slack shows as Connected.
You're connecting to one Slack workspace. If you belong to several, pick the right one in the popup — it's shown at the top right of Slack's permission screen.
Turning it on for a project
Connecting alone isn't enough. In each project you want to use Slack from:
- Open the project
- Click the Connectors button next to the chat box
- Switch Slack on
You can also do this up front — the Connectors button also appears next to the prompt box when you're creating a new project.
What Buildify can do with Slack
Once connected and switched on, Buildify can:
- Read channels it has access to, including message history
- Search across conversations in the workspace
- Post messages to channels
- Look up people in the workspace directory
Private channels are included only where the account you connected with already has access. Buildify can't see anything in Slack that you can't.
Buildify can post to Slack on your behalf. Messages it sends are visible to everyone in the channel, and can't be unsent by Buildify. Be specific about where you want something posted.
Things to ask for
Once it's on, just describe what you want:
- "Summarise what was discussed in #product this week"
- "Find the conversation where we decided on the pricing change"
- "Post the launch checklist to #general"
Disconnecting
Open your avatar → Settings → Connectors → Apps, find Slack, and choose to disconnect.
This removes Buildify's access. Nothing already posted to Slack is removed, and no Slack data is deleted.
Troubleshooting
Buildify says it can't find a channel. It can only see channels the connected account belongs to. Invite that account to the channel in Slack, then try again.
The popup closed without connecting. Some browsers block popups. Allow popups for Buildify and click Connect again.
Slack shows as connected, but the AI says it has no access. The connector isn't switched on for that project. Open the project, click the Connectors button next to the chat box, and turn Slack on.
