Editing Your Doc
After your doc is generated, you can refine it through AI conversation or by editing directly in the editor. Both approaches work — use whichever feels natural.
The doc editor
When you open a Docs project, the main area shows your document in a clean, readable format. The editor supports standard Markdown formatting:
# Heading 1,## Heading 2,### Heading 3**bold**,*italic*- Bullet lists, numbered lists
- Code blocks (for technical docs)
- Links and inline formatting
You can click anywhere in the document and start typing to make direct edits.
Editing with AI
The chat panel lets you ask the AI to make changes without typing them yourself:
- "Add a troubleshooting section at the end" — Generates new content
- "Make the introduction shorter and more direct" — Rewrites a section
- "Convert the bullet points in the setup section into numbered steps" — Reformats content
- "Add a note about Windows-specific instructions wherever relevant" — Inserts context throughout
This is faster than manually rewriting long sections and ensures the changes fit the existing tone and structure.
Saving your doc
Changes are saved automatically as you work. You don't need to click a save button.
Sharing your doc
Your doc project has a preview URL — a clean, read-only version of the document that anyone can view without a Buildify account.
To find the preview link:
- Open your project
- Click the Share button in the top-right of the workspace
- Copy the preview link from the popup
This is useful for sharing documentation with users, customers, or teammates who don't need to edit it.
Exporting your doc
Click the Export button in the top-right of the doc workspace to download your document in a variety of formats:
- Markdown (.md) — Portable format compatible with Notion, GitHub, and most editors
- Plain Text (.txt) — Plain text with no formatting
- HTML (.html) — A self-contained HTML file for embedding or hosting
- Print / Save as PDF — Opens the browser print dialog so you can save as PDF
