Using Shared Documents
If the content you want to work with already lives somewhere online — like a Google Doc — you don't have to copy and paste it. You can give Buildify a share link, and Buildify will read the document at that link and use it as context for your project.
This is a quick way to bring in an existing brief, outline, spec, or reference without reformatting it.
What you can share
Buildify can read anything reachable by a public link — a URL that opens without needing to sign in. That includes:
- Google Docs — the most common case (see the steps below)
- Google Sheets and Google Slides — shared the same way as a Google Doc
- Any public web page or document URL — an article, a published page, or any publicly accessible file
The key requirement is that the link is viewable by anyone who has it. If a page requires a login or special permission, Buildify won't be able to read it.
Sharing a Google Doc
- Open the Google Doc you want to use.
- Click the Share button in the top-right corner.
- Under General access, choose Anyone with the link. Leaving the role as Viewer is enough.
- Click Copy link.
- Paste the link into your Buildify prompt or chat.
Important: The document must be viewable without signing in. If access is limited to specific people, Buildify can't read it — set it to Anyone with the link first.
Using the link in Buildify
You can share a link in two places:
- When creating a project — paste the link into the prompt area along with your description.
- While iterating — paste the link into the chat panel at any time.
It helps to tell Buildify what to do with the document. For example:
Use the content in this doc as the source material for the landing page copy: [your share link]
Tips
- Keep the document public while you work with it. If you tighten permissions later, Buildify can no longer read the link.
- Re-share the link if the content changes a lot. Buildify reads the document when you provide the link — it isn't continuously synced. If you make major edits, paste the link again so Buildify picks up the latest version.
- Combine it with the Knowledge Base. A share link is great for one-off reference material. For context you want the AI to use on every generation, add it to the Knowledge Base instead.
