Creating a Slide Deck

Slides projects let you generate a complete presentation deck from a description. The AI creates the slide structure, writes the content, and formats it into a presentation-ready layout.

Getting started​

  1. From the dashboard, select Slides as your project type
  2. Choose a category if one applies (Startups, Product, Marketing, etc.)
  3. Describe your presentation in the prompt field
  4. Click create

Example prompt:

Create a 10-slide pitch deck for a fintech startup called Clearpath that helps freelancers manage their taxes automatically. Include: problem, solution, market size, product features, business model, traction, team, and a funding ask slide. Keep the tone confident and investor-facing.

The AI will generate a full deck with slide titles, bullet points, and suggested content for each slide.

What makes a good slides prompt​

  • Topic and purpose — What is this presentation for? Who is the audience?
  • Number of slides — How many slides do you want?
  • Key topics to cover — List the main sections or points
  • Tone — Formal, energetic, educational, persuasive?

Slide templates and categories​

  • Startups — Pitch decks, company overviews, fundraising narratives
  • Product — Product overviews, feature launches, roadmap presentations
  • Marketing — Campaign reviews, brand decks, marketing strategy
  • Sales — Sales decks, customer presentations, proposals
  • Operations — Internal updates, process walkthroughs, training material
  • Investor — Board updates, investor briefings, funding asks
  • Research — Findings summaries, data-driven reports

The slides workspace​

When you open a Slides project the workspace is split into two areas:

  • Chat panel (left) — Talk to the AI to add, edit, or restructure slides
  • Preview panel (right) — A live render of your current slide, with a thumbnail strip at the bottom showing all slides

Slide thumbnail strip​

The bottom of the preview panel shows thumbnails for every slide in your deck. Click any thumbnail to jump to that slide.

Use the arrow buttons next to the slide counter (e.g. "1 / 2") to move between slides while editing.

Toolbar actions​

The toolbar above the preview gives you quick access to:

  • Play — Open your deck in a clean, full-screen presentation view
  • Theme — Change the visual style of your entire deck (colors, fonts, backgrounds, layout). Changes apply instantly across all slides.
  • Duplicate — Copy the current slide
  • Refresh — Reload the preview
  • Export PDF — Download your deck as a PDF

Editing your slides​

Use the chat panel to make adjustments:

  • "Add a slide about our competitive advantages after slide 4"
  • "Rewrite the problem slide to be more punchy"
  • "Change the tone throughout to be more casual and direct"
  • "Add speaker notes to each slide"

Presenting your slides​

Click Play in the toolbar to open your deck in a clean, full-screen presentation view. Use this for:

  • Presenting live to an audience from your browser
  • Sharing a preview URL with others — anyone with the link can view the presentation without a Buildify account

Exporting​

Click Export PDF in the toolbar to download your deck as a PDF. Full export to PowerPoint or Google Slides formats is on the product roadmap.
